For the past few years, the members of Saint John’s congregation have been sharing ideas and making decisions about the opportunity to make very necessary improvements to Saint John’s. The committee calledFundingOurRenovation (FOR) has brought the congregation up-to-date on the progress in weekly service bulletins, the Good News and on the church website. A letter containing a pledge matrix and a Personal Pledge Card went out at the end of October. Commitment Sunday was at the beginning of November.
Now you may be asking yourselves what this renovation will do for you and Saint John’s. Why do it - WhatFOR? There are many aspects to the proposal such as improved access for special needs, a safer parking lot, a safe, functional kitchen facility, and especially a new organ - the organ is well over its projected life expectancy and parts are no longer available. In addition, the space will be redesigned to make it more functional, allowing for more room for special services, such as baptisms, confirmation, weddings, and funerals. The nursery area will be redesigned with a new handicap bathroom on the upper level. A large door will be placed going to the stage, utilizing the stage area for nursery activities. A large folding “wall” will be installed to isolate the stage from the gym.
The FOR committee would like to say aBIG THANK YOUto all of our Saint John’s members who stepped up so far and made their pledge to help fund the church renovation project. We have75members who have made a commitment for$348,480.00. This plus other donations total$469,320.85. We are on our way!
